Using art to explore emotion in the medical field

Since the advent of medicine, there have been visual artists who have documented procedures, illustrated manuals and created artworks that explore the emotional aspects of the medical profession.

In its latest show, Kaviar Forge & Gallery explores the various components of health and medicine. “Donate without Loss,” hopes to shed light on the prevalence of medicine people rely on in their everyday lives.

The juried group exhibition showcases artworks featuring the various components of health and medicine, including medical science, medical equipment, anatomy, cellular structure, health personnel, patients, healing, and wellness, according to a news release from the gallery.

Among the artists is Allie Jensen, who is exhibiting an anatomical painting exploring the inner structures of a human heart in “Heart No. 5.” Another artist, Shae Goodlett, highlights medical equipment in his screen prints, “Tangle” and “Clip.” Also featured are Cody Duran, Amber Jeffries, Debra Lott, Luke Seward, Peggy Skemp, Carolyn Spears and Connie Vice.

The show features 17 artists from five different states, with works that include acrylic, oil, graphite, charcoal, ink, watercolor, glass, assemblage, metalwork, screen-print, jewelry, mixed media and alternative photographic processes.
