Since 1977, the Kentucky Watercolor Society has been a champion for the medium, hosting two juried shows a year at various locations. Its latest, “AquaVenture 2018: A Water-Based Media Show,” will be held at Kaviar Forge & Gallery in Clifton starting Saturday, March 17.

The exhibit, which features work by 23 artists from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia, includes watercolor, acrylic and gouache.
Eight of the artists are Kentucky Watercolor Society “signature artists,” a title that means they’ve been accepted into the nonprofit’s national show at least three times or more.
Those notable artists are Susan Christensen, George Gow, Luci Mistratov, Stephen Kuhlman, Sue Hinkebein, Rita Montrosse, Thomas Powell II and Judy Mudd.
“AquaVenture” will open Saturday, March 17, with a reception from 3-5 p.m. An awards ceremony will begin at 3:45 p.m. The exhibit continues through April 28. Kaviar Forge & Gallery, run by juror Craig Kaviar, is located at 147 Stevenson Ave. in Clifton.
